Apiros

NOUN, GREEK (ANCIENT)

the state of being limitless; untouchable

Apiros is a state of being—limitless; untouchable.

It’s also a place to hone those qualities of yourself.

Evolved Coaching is a method we use, and Austin Einhorn innovated, to achieve that state.

You come here to have your limits identified, removed, and grow beyond them.

Limits come in the form of unsustainable movement patterns, movement substitutions, unnecessary chronic contractions, or limited capacities. Effects of those limits are noncontact injuries, performance plateaus, and stubborn aches.

We get you to unlearn your limits.

Lim-it-less. It sounds so contrived, but every person we’ve worked with had to unlearn those limits to move past them.

I am apiros.

Maybe you could be too.

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT SICK DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE HEALTHY.

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HURT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE MOVING EFFICIENTLY, POWERFULLY, OR SAFELY.

APIROS REDUCES RISK OF INJURY AND EVOLVES PERFORMANCE.

Apiros Athletes’ Stories

WES SCHWEITZER

NFL OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, 7TH YEAR

By fate or circumstance I was lucky enough to be introduced to Austin through my good friend and teammate Andy Levitre in early 2016. What first started as a simple diagnosis of my posture has led to a fundamental change in how I view movement, sports, and my daily life. His dynamic method of training encompasses several different areas of human performance, such as improving efficiency of movement, training techniques (namely weightlifting, climbing and running), and mental health. Austin's method is not a typical "cookie-cutter" approach: each athlete that comes to Apiros has their own background, awareness level, injuries, imbalances, and environmental demands within their sport. Austin's training style has so radically changed my mindset in so many aspects because it is not bound to the fallacies of traditional sports and training styles.

Each visit to Apiros I leave knowing that I expanded my “movement toolbox” and also improved my quality of life.

Austin (and the rest of the team at Apiros) have vastly improved my football performance and versatility (started and played at several positions, sometimes switching mid-game), running mechanics and speed (at a much heavier weight, 305lb to 320lb), range of motion and mobility, awareness, body composition, weights on my lifts (ex: back squat from 545lb to 675lb), general recognition of efficient movement patterns, and my overall wellbeing. Many injuries which I thought (and was always told by medical professionals) were life-long have reverted to normal and improved from pre-injury (high ankle sprains and bulged disks). I cannot recommend the Apiros team enough, thank you guys for all you have done for me.

MLB PLAYER, ALL-STAR

I started seeing Austin after two surgeries and was thrilled to work with someone as eager to learn and improve as I was. I knew from our first session that Austin was going to be a great fit for me. His "human first, athlete second" approach is extremely important yet neglected in organized sport. Training at Apiros has made me more aware of my body resulting in my strength improving and most importantly moving better and more efficiently. I regained confidence in my body through challenging movements I’ve never done before.

I know I can push my body to its limits and play fearlessly without any hesitation.

I'm always excited to learn more about my body in our sessions. I move better and am more aware of my body which allows me to constantly explore new movements.

RONI JONES-PERRY

PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL PLAYER, NATIONAL TEAM MEMBER

Throughout my athletic career, I’ve always been a person who wants to get the most out of my body and training. I’ve had a lot of really great coaches along the way but once I got into the professional landscape, my needs changed.

I had hard time finding a training style both that I could trust, and that would get my body where it needed to be in order to play without continually increasing pain in my knees.

That’s when I found Austin and Apiros.

We started working together virtually mid-season and the changes in the way my body felt was like nothing I had ever experienced.

From that point, I was hooked and I am so grateful that I reached out when I did.

I’m about to head into my fifth professional season, knowing that I not only have a program that I truly believe in, but also an incredible person in my corner who cares about me more as a human than as an athlete while still being just as excited about my progression athletically as I am.

PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL PLAYER, 7X NATIONAL TEAM MEMBER

I was introduced to Austin in 2015 through a teammate of mine Brian Cook. I saw how he was training, and my curious nature took over. I wanted a piece of it. His unorthodox style of training is what caught my eye, but what kept me coming back was his ideology. There was no separate agenda. He wasn’t trying to “sell me” on anything. He was merely offering me another perspective. Another lens for which to view how we move and how we evolved to do so. Look, the results of my time with him speak for themselves, but what I find more value in is the relationship we’ve cultivated together and the community I get to be a part of.

For me it’s pretty simple: if you’re an Apiros athlete, you’re built different, you think different, and you aren’t afraid to explore your own curiosity outside of the conventional norm.

Austin has furthered my love for movement and in doing so, has been there to guide me down the path of a 7x professional volleyball player with Team USA. The learning never stops and the relationship to my self of understanding only continues to develop. The confidence I have in how I move and who I am as a human being grows stronger everyday. Knowing there are other people out there who feel the same… That is what I’m ultimately most grateful for.

  • JAMES SHAW - U.S. NATIONAL TEAM

Austin made an immediate impact on the Stanford program. We enjoyed a year virtually free of major injuries, were ranked within the top 5, and led the MPSF for the majority of the year. I was named a First Team AVCA All-American and MPSF Player of the Year. I was healthy enough to play in every match for the first time in my athletic career.

I BOUGHT IN TO HIS EVERY WORD, AND GIVE MOST OF THE CREDIT FOR THOSE AWARDS AND ACCOLADES TO AUSTIN.

  • ALIX WILKINSON - USA SKI TEAM & OLYMPIAN

The work I’ve done with Austin and Aaron has truly impacted my career for the better. Previously, I thought it was near impossible to ski without back pain.

THE CHANGE I’VE SEEN IN MY RIB CAGE AND BACK HAS NOT ONLY MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR MY BACK TO BE PAIN FREE, BUT ALSO TO IMPROVE MY TECHNIQUE WHILE SKIING.

GETTING TO WORK WITH AUSTIN HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES OF MY ATHLETIC CAREER.

I've been lifting and training for volleyball for over 20 years and there were things I thought my body just could not do... working with Austin has shown me otherwise. He processes movement different than any trainer I've met and it's been exciting to see my movements transform.

In the five years we worked together, I never missed one practice or game.

I have gained a greater sense of body awareness, fluidity through my hips, deeper knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of my body, and a different outlook for strength and conditioning training.

I have been very pleased with what I have learned and my results and will continue to implement his methods into training for my sport. I recommend this type of training to any athlete that wants to have a deeper understanding of who they are as an athlete and what they can do to improve and become the best possible athlete that they can be.

TRAVIS BOAK

PROFESSIONAL AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL PLAYER & TEAM CAPTAIN

I went to Santa Cruz to train with Austin not really knowing what exactly I was going to be doing or how I was going to improve as an athlete but I was going there wanting to improve.

THE THING IS, I CAME AWAY AFTER 6 DAYS OF TRAINING NOT ONLY AS A BETTER ATHLETE BUT BETTER PERSON.

I was only meant to stay for 4 days but changed my trip to stay longer as I was getting so much out of each session, I learnt about parts of my body that weren’t as strong and where I needed to improve and within a day understating how to fix that and felt the difference coming into the next session. The biggest thing I learnt and am know seeing benefits in my training is how to use my core properly just from focusing on my stomach position now I am so much stronger and powerful in my training and sport because of it. Being aware of your body and how it reacts during certain movements is something I knew nothing about but now completely understand why it’s so important, the power that I can now create through movement is a huge difference from when I walked through the door.

The thing that Austin gets and that a lot of trainers out there don't, is the importance of the relationship with the athlete, we are all different we learn different but he wants to get to know you on a personal level to help train you the best way this is what I loved most, it wasn’t just do this exercise because I said so there is genuine care there for the athlete and then he lets you explain what your doing and how you are feeling during the exercise to help you learn.

I HAVE COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA A MUCH BETTER ATHLETE AND CAN’T WAIT FOR MY SEASON TO START BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I HAVE IMPROVED FROM AUSTIN’S TRAINING.

I am so much more relaxed as a footballer because what I learnt from Austin. There is no certain way to do something, think outside the box. If the goal is to pick the ball up just pick the ball up, it has calmed my mind and body so much from going through that. I can’t wait to go back again next year for longer.

MALINA TERRELL

PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL PLAYER

As an athlete that’s worked with Apiros and will continue to do so, I can honestly say I know it was the best decision I could have made.

My shoulder was weak and I couldn’t even raise my arm to brush my teeth. Going from that to doing scapular pull ups and single arm holds, climbing, and a whole bunch of other “bizarre” exercises, my shoulder is the strongest it’s been my whole career. This is the first season I’ve finished where I didn’t feel like my shoulder was about to fall off. Although I was away, I still found ways to incorporate some important things I learned at Apiros into my training throughout the season. I’m forever grateful and excited to get back to work when I go home to the Bay Area.

  • CORY MCELYEA - PROFESSIONAL GOLFER

I, like many, just thought that pain and injuries were synonymous with the sport and played through much of the pain. I went to several different specialists whom all recommended surgery, or some drastic remedy. It was not until I went to Apiros that I was able to eliminate nearly all pain symptoms immediately. It wasn’t by some magic massage technique or injection, but just by fixing my mechanics and enhancing how I moved

  • JORDAN BURGESS - PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL PLAYER, STANFORD ALL-AMERICAN, GATORADE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

When I first joined Apiros, I was desperate. I dreamed of playing professional volleyball but after two years of battling a string of injuries (shoulder surgery, toes, abs, hips, etc) with the help of many coaches and trainers, I couldn’t get back on the court. I’d play for two practices and something new would start hurting. Doctor’s couldn’t explain why I jumped from one injury to the next… they thought it was just bad luck. In 6 months, Austin gave me my sport back and sent me to Germany to play in my first professional season. I gotta say my favorite part of playing volleyball again was the 6 months I spent with Austin. By far my favorite actually.

AUSTIN WORKS “MIRACLES” BY LOOKING AT HIS ATHLETES MOVEMENT PATTERNS WITH CURIOSITY AND BRAVERY — HE EXPERIMENTS AND ISN’T AFRAID TO STRAY FROM “THE BOOK”.

He’s a movement guru — my Mr. Miyagi. If you want to become your best, get this guy on your team. I’m forever grateful!!

  • BRIAN COOK - PRO VOLLEYBALL, STANFORD ALL-AMERICAN

Before I started training with Austin at Apiros, I essentially played volleyball on one leg due to knee pain. As a professional volleyball player, I knew I needed to fix this problem to progress more in my sport. He helped me address the problem and has given me the tools to stay healthy during my long seasons abroad. If you are looking to unlock your true physical potential, Apiros is for you.
